To whom it may concern,
I am writing to express my hope for permanent protection of the full Columbine Hondo area and that the entire area be given Wilderness status. I am a 24 year old female with friends of all ages. Having moved here from New York City I am overcome with gratitude for all of the beautiful, accessible, natural land in close proximity to where I live in Arroyo Seco. On different occasions every single one of my friends has expressed gratitude to the same degree. I am especially impressed by those who have grown up here who continually state that "this place is special." Not always do we see the beauty of where we've always been. The wild mountains here are extraordinary. I greatly appreciate having wilderness that is accessible by foot or hoof only. The introduction of mechanical equipment damages the peace and tranquility of these places and increases the risk of physical damage to the plants and animals who live there. Please help save this magnificent stretch of land for future generations! I know that people my age really love to find solitude in these forests. I would like to see this beautiful wilderness protected so that I may continue to share it with visiting friends and someday share it's glory with my children.
With Great Sincerity,
Nena M. Salazar
