Our Mission

The Mission of the Columbine Hondo Wilderness Coalition is to protect the land, water, values, heritage, culture, and traditions embodied in the lands and communities surrounding the Columbine-Hondo Wilderness Study Area by elevating its status to full Wilderness designation.

The Columbine Hondo Wilderness Coalition is comprised of concerned local residents, ranchers,sportsmen, outdoor enthusiasts, outfitters and guides, conservation organizations like Rivers and Birds [1], the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance [2], The Wilderness Society [3], Campaign for America’s Wilderness at the Pew Environment Group [4], Back Country Hunters and Anglers [5], New Mexico Wildlife Federation [6], Trout Unlimited [7], National Wildlife Federation [8], Amigos Bravos [9], Concerned Citizens of Red River, and the Sierra Club – Rio Grande Chapter [10], as well as the San Antonio del Rio Colorado and Arroyo Hondo Arriba Community Land Grant Associations.
